Workshop: How to Protest Your Property Tax Assessment (Travis County)

April 6, 2016 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

Mark your calendar, May 3rd, I’ll be hosting my annual workshop, How to Protest Your Property Tax Assessment. If you think your 2016 Travis County property tax assessment is too high, you don’t want to miss this. We’ll discuss the protesting process, deadlines, and expectations for success. All attendees will receive sales information for their specific neighborhood that can be used to protest. This workshop is free and will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd, at 7:00pm at the Towne Square Community Center in Steiner Ranch at 12550 Country Trails Lane, Austin, TX 78732.  If you’re interesting in protesting your Williamson County tax assessment, you can find information on that workshop here.  RSVPs are not required but are helpful.  You can let us know you’re coming by visiting the event page.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION*** Please be aware that Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) is not permitting unscheduled, informal hearings. Unlike past years, you cannot just walk in and get an informal hearing. You must protest through the formal channel and get an appointment. Hopefully that will save a few of you an unnecessary trip across town. And, yes, I found out the hard way. Kudos to TCAD for publicizing the change of procedure this year (though the director did assure me they will add this information to the website before lunch today).
