Where do Austin’s wealthy live?  Let’s take a look at the top five zip codes.  Coming in at #5 is 78619 which is the Driftwood area with median household income around $153,000.  #4 is 78746 which is West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, and that area with over $166,000.  Third place, at over $178,000, goes to 78739 which is the Circle C area in southwest Austin.  In second place is 78732 which is the Steiner Ranch area near both Lake Travis and Lake Austin coming in at over $180,000.  And the wealthiest Austin area zip code is 78733 with almost $188,000.  This is the area in west Austin along Cuernavaca that includes a lot of Lake Austin waterfront homes.  The list was compiled by the Austin Business Journal using US Census data to determine median household income.
