Vintage Austin: 11th Street

Photo Credit: Austin History Center, PICA 04776

This Vintage Austin photo is from the early 1900s. From 11th Street looking southeast we see the south end of the Capitol grounds, the Travis County Courthouse, a Moonlight Tower, and the famous Lundberg Bakery building with it's majestic gold eagle on top. By the time of this photo it had become the Siglhofer's Bakery. Fun fact, you can actually still find George Siglhofer's name etched into the cement sidewalk in front of the building.
