October 2, 1835 was the start of the Texas Revolution. The Battle of Gonzales was the first battle. It was really more of a skirmish or rebellion than a battle. Mexican authorities were trying to take back a cannon they had given the Texians a few years earlier (yes, Texians was the term used then). The Come and Take Flag was created for the battle. And, yes, this 1835 is the origin of the 1835 Realty name.
