Texas is #1...Again

Texas is #1…Again.  This time we’re tops in the nation in the number of new residents added over the past year.  According to the Census Bureau, Texas added over 473,000 residents from July 2022 to June 2023.  That’s an increase of 1.58% and takes the state’s population to over 30,500,000 Texans.  That makes us the second largest state with only California ahead of us at almost 39 million residents.  Cali lost 75,000 residents during the same time and New York lost more than 100,000.  In terms of the rate of increase, Texas’ 1.58% was third in the nation behind South Carolina and Florida.  Houston is still the state’s largest city with 2.3 million, followed by San Antonio at 1.5 million and Dallas at 1.3 million.  Austin and Fort Worth both have around 950,000.
