Setting Off Security Systems

The cops are on their way!  Yes, it’s happened to me and likely to most real estate agents – setting off a security system alarm.  There’s nothing like the feeling of opening the door to show a home and hearing the security system chirping, waiting for the code to be entered.  Sometimes, I wasn’t given a code.  Other times, you can’t find the keypad fast enough.  And occasionally, the code isn’t the right code.  Either way, the police are coming soon.  Fortunately, when the officer sees the for sale sign and someone outside waiting for them, they know what’s going on.  By showing a business card and license, it pretty much wraps things up.  Which always made me think that if I wanted to become a thief, I should keep my real estate license active and always have plenty of business cards with me.
