Pet Peeve: Builders Advertised Prices
Builder Advertised Prices in Austin, Texas. Are they accurate? And why do they all do this one thing that drives me crazy?
I have more than a few pet peeves when it comes to real estate. One of them is how builders advertise their pricing. You’ve seen the billboards where a builder claims prices from the $500’s. Almost every single builder puts an apostrophe on there - $500 apostrophe s. Well, builder marketing department, the price is plural, not possessive. Yes, this may be more of a grammar pet peeve than a real estate pet peeve, but this one is so pervasive across the industry. Of course, a corollary to this is that they advertise it as “from the $500’s,” then you find out the base price of the smallest home if $599,000.
