Not a Sellers Market
It Is Not A Seller's Market Anymore It’s not a seller’s market anymore! Just about every buyer has figured this out, but I keep seeing so many real estate agents claiming that it is still a seller’s market. I disagree. They’re using an antiquated measure that I don’t think applies anymore. That rule-of-thumb says that if there is less than a six-month supply of homes on the market, then it is a seller’s market. We’ve just been through a few years in which we measured the housing supply in weeks, if not days, so I don’t think a sudden shift to 4 or 5 months of inventory still qualifies as a seller’s market. Having been in the business since 1999, I’ve been through a few real estate cycles and I can assure you that this is not an environment in which the seller’s have the upper hand in negotiations.
