I Couldn't Get Out Of There Fast Enough
Most of the time, I enjoy meeting potential clients to discuss the sale of their house, but one time, I was totally creeped out.
I’ve met with a lot of sellers over the past 23 years, and a few really stand out. The most uncomfortable was about 15 years ago. The house was owned by a very adamant protester. Now, what the guy protested about is irrelevant to the story. Most houses are decorated with artwork, family photos, etc, but this one just had protest signs, banners, and the like hanging all over. Next to the garage door was a station filled with all the stuff you’d want to grab to head out at the last minute and be ready to protest. When I suggested that it might be a good idea to take these things down, the guy was floored and was clear it would be shown exactly as I saw it (which, frankly, wasn’t surprising). But what really stands out is just how creepy the guy was. So much, in fact, that almost immediately I made a point of checking out where the back door was and looking to see if it was unlocked. It was about as short of a listing appointment as I could make it and still be polite.
