First Home I Sold

The very first home I sold had a break-in just days before closing. And it was the buyers who broke in. I represented the seller and they had already moved out by the time I listed the house. I got it sold (for full price) and things were uneventful during the process until I went to pick up my sign the day of closing. When I got there, there were all kinds of boxes out at the street. I went up to the house and while no one was home, the house was full of furniture. I called the buyer’s agent and she knew nothing. We soon found out that a few days earlier, the buyers broke a window to gain access and moved in. Again, I was brand new in real estate and this was my first sale! As it turned out, my client was pretty relaxed about the whole thing since we were closing a few hours later. But I did get the buyer to pay several days rent. The buyer and seller happened to meet at the title company, found out they had a lot in common, and got along quite well. What could have been a disaster in a lot of situations, was actually solved easily. And I’ve been solving real estate problems ever since. I’m Craig Smyser with 1835 Realty.
