Buy A Home With IRA
Buy a house with your IRA! That’s right, most people don’t realize it, but you can invest in real estate with retirement money. If you have a self-directed IRA, you can purchase investment real estate. You can’t do this with companies like Schwab or Fidelity as you would a stock or mutual fund. Instead, you transfer those funds to an IRA Custodian that handles real estate. When you identify a property to purchase, you instruct the custodian to purchase it, because you don’t own it, your IRA owns it. For example, if I want to buy real estate with retirement funds, the owner would be the IRA Custodian on behalf of the Craig Smyser Roth IRA. In fact, I do own real estate through my IRA, but it’s not for everyone, nor is every type of real estate a good choice to own within an IRA. There’s much to learn before venturing into this, so contact me if you’d like to learn more.
