HUD Discontinues $100 Down Payment Program in Texas

November 19, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

HUD has just announced that the $100 Down Payment Program will be discontinued in Texas on November 30, 2012. Any contract executed on or before November 30th will still be eligible for the program. This means offers that have been accepted, but not executed by then are not eligible. The $100 Down Payment Program has been in effect since October 2011. It permits owner-occupants who purchase a HUD home at full price using FHA financing to lower their down payment for $100. Buyers will now need to put down at least … [Read more...]

Thanks for Helping Me Raise $469 for Children’s Miracle Network!

October 22, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

I want to thank everyone who bought cotton candy from me at the Laura Welch Bush Elementary Fall Fest last Friday night. We raised $469 for Dell Children's Medical Center (technically, the money is donated to Children's Miracle Network, but all of the money donated in the Austin area goes to Dell Children's). In addition, we raised $235 for the LWBE PTA. Thanks again for letting me load up your kids with sugar! … [Read more...]

Three Great Homes for Investors or Owner-Occupants

September 14, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

Over the past few days I have listed three homes that are under $100,000. All three are great for owner-occupants, but I must say that the appeal to investors is even greater. While most foreclosure homes on the market have a lock-out period that prevents investors from buying during the first 10 to 30 days, all three of these homes are available to investors on day 1. The homes in Austin and Del Valle are foreclosures. Both homes already have multiple offers - highest and best offers are due to me by Monday, … [Read more...]

Wells Fargo Secures the Wrong House

September 7, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

I ran across an article that claimed the wrong house was foreclosed upon and the owner lost all of their possessions. Although the article's title mistakenly says that the couple's house was "mistakenly foreclosed," that is not accurate. In reality, the firm (commonly known as a 'field service' company) that Wells Fargo hired to secure a property went to the wrong house. Whether Wells Fargo gave them the wrong address or the field service company went to the wrong address is not mentioned in the article. The house … [Read more...]

Vandegrift High School Kicking for Cash Results

September 7, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

Congratulations to Jackson Harris, representing boys soccer, on a soaring 45-yard field goal to win the 2012 Kicking for Cash event tonight during halftime of the Vandegrift football game (he had plenty of room to spare). Second place was claimed by JT Morton (PALS) and third place was taken by Ryan Brewster (boys basketball). I'll have photos available soon. It was another enjoyable evening. I am very happy to be able to sponsor this event each year and I'm already looking forward to next year's! For more … [Read more...]

Vandegrift High School’s 3rd Annual Kicking for Cash

September 4, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

I'm proud to be the sole sponsor for Vandegrift High School's 3rd Annual Kicking for Cash contest to be held during halftime of the September 7th football game against Killeen (the game starts at 7:30pm). In this event, students will kick field goals in an effort to win cash for various student organizations at Vandegrift. The students will start kicking field goals from the same distance, with those who successfully split the uprights moving back until the winners have been determined. The top three kickers will … [Read more...]

$540 Raised for Dell Children’s Medical Center

August 20, 2012 Craig Smyser Leave a Comment

A great big "Thank You" to everyone who came out to the Steiner Ranch Concert in the Park on Saturday and purchased cotton candy. I spun cotton candy for almost three hours straight and would have kept going if we weren't cut short by the rain. I am happy to report that $540 was raised for Dell Children's Medical Center. Below is a picture of me presenting the check to Kip Holmes over at Dell Children's. Since 1992, RE/MAX associates have donated over $115 million to Children's Miracle Network. Every dollar … [Read more...]
