The Austin City Zoning and Planning Commission Meeting just approved the environmental variance across the Critical Water Quality Zone in Steiner Ranch.  This is the first step in a series of approvals needed to pave the way for a storage unit facility and around 300 more apartments at the front of Steiner Ranch (yeah, that won't affect the enrollment at Steiner Ranch Elementary, right?).

The good news is that the commission took notice of all the forms submitted by those of us opposed to it.  They noted these objections will be appropriate for future approvals needed for this development.

Thanks to Carla George for all of her efforts since this development came to light last week.  Thanks to Paul O'Brien at Steiner Ranch Post for relaying the information right from the commission meeting.  I'm sure there will be a lot more on this over the coming weeks.
