The long-rumored addition of Randalls to Steiner Ranch was formally announced this week.  Safeway (which own's Randalls) disclosed that they are purchasing 61 acres at the southwest corner of Quinlan Park Road and Highway 620 (this is the side closest to the Mansfield Dam at the main Steiner entrance).  Construction is scheduled to start in the fall and Randalls should open in 2011.  Of the 61 acres, only 15 acres will be developed with the remaining left in its current, natural state.  The concept calls for the Randalls, a bank, a few restaurants, some retail stores, and an office/medical building.  The Randalls will be over 60,000 square feet with all the normal trimmings you'd expect plus a Starbucks.
